I made this rag wreath this weekend. It took me approx 1 1/2 hours to make it while watching a movie with the kiddos!
What you need:
Time it took: approx 1-2 hours
I used about 1.5 yards of each. I used 3 different fabrics. You can use more or less depending on the look you are going for here!
The bottom one has a stripe in a very light linen color. I wanted to add a little variety and dimension to the wreath!
I tore my strips lengthwise first they were approx 1.5" wide. I started with about 12 strips of each fabric, tearing more as I went along. Then I cut them into 9" long pieces.
I had a pile of each color.
Begin tying on each strip. Start at the outermost portion of the ring.
Fold the strip in half and place the open end under the top ring, pull the 2 open pieces through the hole to tie a knot.
Repeat, repeat, repeat! This is all you do, I completed this in sections starting at the top and working down to the center. For a full wreath you will want to push the knots close together.
I did mostly white and added in pops of linen and the stripe fabric here and there. I wanted a farmhouse style wreath with pops of neutral colors.
This is the back side. You will want to slide the fabric around and fluff the wreath to make sure its full. If you have open space, add more fabric!
Tie a piece of twine to the top and you're done! Hang it up and enjoy your beautiful rag wreath!
Its so easy! All you need is a little time!
